Pic is really nice, but the light coming on the left side of his face is quite hard and does not look it has come from a strip box or umbrella as both sources will produce soft light...your comments please

Local contrast enhancement in Photoshop. Subject distance to the background is about 6 ft.
The stripbox is obviously vertical not horizontal as the lighting diagram might suggest. The center of the stripbox is at chin level to get an equal amount of light above the rim of the hat.
