For this shot, I carved a hole in the back of my pumpkin just large enough to get the bulb of my strobe all the way inside. It had to be a snug fit since I didn't want any light leaking out.
Meanwhile my other strobe was a VERY low power, just enough to get detail on the pumpkin face with a 15º honeycomb grid.
The pumpkin itself was on a TV tray on a couple of phone books. Directly in front of it and below the frame was a bowl of dry ice.
It was shot on Ilford XP-2 400 speed film with a Canon Rebel TI and a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens.
